White Teas
White tea is made from tender, nutrient-rich, baby tea leaves and is the least processed of all tea varietals. White teas are not fired or rolled like other teas and because they are the least processed of all the types they are the lowest in caffeine. White Teas are delicately hand harvested only once a year, for a few weeks in early spring when the weather is consistently cool and dry. The withering process of white tea raises an abundance of silvery-white hairs on the dried tealeaves and buds that resembles the skin of a ripened peach, thus giving it its name.
Health Benefits - Compared to other teas, White Teas are considered the healthiest of all teas. They are very low in caffeine, about 10mg per 8 oz cup, and contain the highest concentration of antioxidant polyphenols (tea catechins), which are cancer fighting anti-oxidants. White tea also contains L-Theanine Amino Acid which helps in promoting longevity, concentration, anti aging and anti-stress properties. White Tea has a natural anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antifungal effect that aids in killing close to 100 million harmful bacteria organisms in your mouth, which help in preventing soar throats, cold and flu symptoms. Drinking white tea also aids in preventing cavities, gum diseases and bad breadth.
